Our protagonist is from a rural community near a port, and yearns to find out what is out there in the larger world having heard tales of almost magical places. The description and discovery of the world will be told from his/her viewpoint, although important documentation will appear later to help validify the world. For example, heading to the nearby port, the protagonist discovers a map on board a ship which then conveys to the reader places seen and yet to be seen.   Whilst appearing fantastical at first due to unique creatures and places, there will be doubt in the reader's mind as some things will be unearthed that cannot be explained. A renaissance begins as artefacts are turning up everywhere and a school is established to collate the findings and ponder their meaning. Characters in this world have varying anatomies and thus have different physical capabilities.   The geography of the world contains varied biomes with obvious evidence of cataclysmic events to the reader, but not necessarily the protagonist and our other characters. It is with these cataclysms i want to be most careful as through these we will deduct the true nature of our story. The glass beach is one such discovery.   Powerful technology is discovered which begins an arms race between political factions as well as igniting religious discussion. Our protagonist, over the course of his journey is beset by tragedy but becomes a prominent figure through a rite of passage in this new field of archaeology and is courted and betrayed by factions, as well as getting into a race against time against a rival.   Towards the end we learn that some of the technology has been accidentally 'activated' due to the ignorance of our cast. One artefact is acting as a beacon, signal or warning of unknown intent, unknown destination, nor for whom it was intended. We conclude this story from the viewpoint of our cast when creatures never seen before, known only through myth, appear and reveal themselves.   These misshapen hairless monkeys we discover are ancestors of this world who fled a long time ago, but are now intrigued to return, to a home they thought lost many millenia ago. This place they called Earth. Some final exposition hints at genetic tinkering, harnessing energy and a greater threat amongst the heavens. This awakening of knowledge naturally challenges the normal order and new truths are not universally accepted.
