Elffriend

This title, given, surprisingly enough, by the elves, for great acts of heroism or the sacrifce of ones life to save an elf. A quite rare title, given out very rarely and not at all in the last 200 years, it in many cases will get passed down along with other titles, like is the case with Leo Hanali. The elves us this as a marker of those whose ancestors have been good to them, but they better than anyone understand that peoples lineages do not represent the same person. As such, the reverence given for the title is relativly small for the elves, though many humans see it as a mark of great respect to have it used on them. Being called the friend of an ancient and extremly powerful race can easily help secure marriages, titles, or even help in a succession crisis, as well as granting a powerful form of legitimacy.

Benefits

The elves will often send a, rather ceremonial, collection of produce once a year to the surviving children of the actual elfriend, and those that hold the title until it dies out or is revoked. In addition, they will often find a much easier time finding a place to stay while passing through an elven town, and wont recieve the same mildly aloof cold shoulder that is everpresent in the elves.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The actual mark is a magical oak leaf that stays fresh indefinitly, until the magic is revoked.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The elves do occasionally remove the title if the elffriend does something terrible to the elves, but most simply die out with the male line, as if the titles attached are not powerful they may be swept up by another lord, in which case the title does not accompany.
