The Ewari Steppe
Ewari is the largest single country across Albernon. The landscape of Ewari is largely comprised of harsh grasslands, large lakes dotting the landscape occasionally, and the Emolja Mountain range which makes up the southern border with Osica.
The Ewari Steppe, as the grasslands are known, is a vast stretch of land dotted by large lakes and expansive ravines. Traversing the Steppe is a long and arduous task, the ravines and torrential rain storms make even a short journey potentially perilous. In addition to a barren and inhospitable landscape, the Steppe is home to many dangerous beasts and monsters. Dire wolves are the most common beast to assail travelers of the Steppe, they take down any prey they can find, though lacking anything small enough to hunt alone will group up in packs and hunt down the mammoths which wander the landscape. Occasionally a black dragon will find its way down onto the Steppe from their roosts on the Emolja mountains, though typically they will choose to instead hunt on the more prosperous Osica to the south.
The Ewari Steppe hides many secrets in its vast wilderness, ancient ruins buried deep under the ground, remnants of a lost society, inescapable fogs which roll across the landscape eating anything which comes in their path. Perhaps most worrying though is the planar rifts which opened with the events of the Star Fall. These rifts have become far more common since Star Fall, but for some reason the Steppe has become a center for them. Hundreds of planar rifts dot the landscape, creating not just a difficulty in travelling and potentially falling into another plane, but also in allowing creatures and environments from the otherside to pass through. Inevitably wherever a planar rift opens, no matter how long it is open, some monsters will make their way through, and with them they bring a portion of their home. While many of the rifts fade and open seemingly at random, their influence is still felt long after closing. Drylands are found flooded, large scorch marks pock the landscape, hellish monuments spring up surrounded by demons.
Despite all the trials and difficulties there exists a people who call the Steppe their home. Descended from elves the people of the Steppe are a hardy and long lived race. Their tribal society is one based around mobility, favoring the ability to move and follow the weather and their prey the giant mammoths. To this end they
