The Birdhouse

The Birdhouse: Home of the Starsingers

Somewhere in the Inkwell Canvas, marked only by a few nondescript space islands on its outskirts, drifts an avant-garde structure that looks like a cracked egg. This egg has been lovingly dubbed the Birdhouse by its residents, the godlike bird people of the Akatasphere known as Starsingers. It serves as a residence, headquarters, and laboratory for the Starsingers that have not chosen to become the wills of planets.

The Birdhouse as Residence

The Birdhouse is designed as a comfortable space for Starsingers in and out of bird form. One wing of the structure is something like a dormitory, with rooms for each one staying there. As the Birdhouse is saturated with what could be called "creative energy," it isn't difficult to make more rooms or "delete" a room if a Starsinger arrives or leaves. It's also possible to customize the rooms within reason. Due to a recent incident, there is also a nursery of sorts for Starsinger eggs to incubate in. There are plenty of recreational spaces as well, from lounges to courtyards. There's even a bar somewhere in the Birdhouse that offers drinks from all over the Akatasphere, though rumors abound of conflict between the Starsinger that "manages" the Birdhouse and the head bartender.

The Birdhouse as Headquarters

When the Starsingers need to hold a meeting, the Birdhouse's "manager" is able to call all available members to the Birdhouse. He also has a means to contact Starsingers currently supporting planets. For the sake of privacy, any business concerning the overall status or governance of Starsingers must be held in the Birdhouse. Although some residents have questioned how much secrecy is truly needed as recent events call for Starsingers to reveal themselves, the rule stands firm.

The Birdhouse as Laboratory

Since the Starsingers have access to power and technology beyond those of the rest of the Akatasphere's population, they can test theories and developments in the Birdhouse. Such new research includes studying Starsinger children (which were thought to not be possible till someone proved it wrong) and determining how to combat the Negation before the nefarious force kills more worlds.
