The Sacrament of Vindex Populi
The Sacrament of the Vindex Populi is a tradition within the The Kingdom of Maedoria. It honors a person who has done great work in protecting the kingdom from threats. It allows the candidate to have the highest rank with in the kingdom. The Vindex Populi are an elite team for the sole purpose of protecting the crown and its Kingdom.
History
This ceremony is relatively new it was first administered to Kayden Ryker, Saint of the night to set him to a higher Rank and was used again as more champions arose to protect the kingdom.
Execution
There are several steps to the Sacrament, the first being a speech the king gives to the entire kingdom followed by a testament of the candidates court (A group of people gathered to attest to the candidates character). Then the oath is made upon a rune of Verum the goddess of truth. If the rune holds true and doesn’t crack then the candidate is successfully admitted in to the ranks of the Vindex Populi. Then the candidate is asked for the name that their people will rejoice and their enemies will fear. Then a celebration sweeps across the kingdom knowing they have a new champion of the people.
Components and tools
A large stone handpicked by the candidate is inscribed with the rune of Verum, which the oath is administered on.
Participants
It is a favorite pastime of the Nobels of Maedoria to see the rise of champions during the sacrament, as many of them try to teach the candidate proper Nobel customs before their ceremony. The family of the candidate and the court are also expected to be there. The court is usually determined a week or two prior at the suggestion of the candidate but at the final decision of the Sacrament advisor.
