My Summer Camp 2021 Worldbuilding Pledge Document

Hi Everyone, I've never thought of myself as a writer, but I've spent years creating stories to entertain my friends in various roleplaying games. I discovered World Anvil a little over a year ago, and all the creative world builders out there have been feeding a tiny ember inside. So, no more excuses. I'm going to try and put some of my ideas onto the page - and heaven forbid - share them with you all.   Be warned this will be a choppy ride; I might have been born and raised in England but I still write English as a second language ;)

Which project are your worldbuilding efforts tied to

I've been a long-time fan of urban fantasy, and modern faerie tales. Having piggy-backed on so many authors in the past, I'm looking to develop my own take on the genre and pick out new stories to tell. At the same time, I want to take conscious steps to improve my craftmanship and practice the tools needed to put an idea onto the page.

What world are you working on?

Aithanir's Guide to Eldritch Britain takes the Thatcher years as a starting point and brushes against the paranormal from half-remember folklore to eldritch horror.

Which area of the world(s) are you working on?

I hope to develop a primer that sets the tone for my setting that I can use as a springboard to create new stories.

How much are you aiming to complete?

Time is tight, but I aiming to generate a baker's dozen of articles.

When will you write?

Two evenings a week, and weekends.

Who is your support network?

Flying solo baby!
