House of Lotus

Also known as liánhuā in their native language, the House of Lotus is a divine house originating in the city of Chenan, the second largest city in the Tongdao vassal state of the Khairluutian Empire. While divine houses and the House of Crystal flourish on Phicen, divinity-touched individuals are rarely able to be so open about who they are in Adis. The new homes and families they build for themselves are forced to be tougher, and the House of Lotus is once such indomitable institution.

Building

Like many divine houses in Adis, it is defensively built, but has not sacrificed aesthetics. The ground floor is twenty feet tall, elevating the living spaces built with traditional Tongdao architectural elements well above any passersby. Constructed with tall, clean lines of concrete and steel beams, it has been built to withstand nearly anything that can be thrown at it. The lobby is always manned by one of the residents, and elevator and stair access to the living quarters requires both a key and the lobby attendant to deactivate the defensive wards from behind their desk.
The upper floors contain the living spaces. Many outsiders who believe them to be extravagant places of indulgence would likely be disappointed at how simple they are; all rooms are shared to maximize usable space, with much of the mismatched furniture purchased second-hand.
