Stories can move mountains.
The Orator
A god of stories, oration, and entertaining, Boltun is worshiped by both bards and politicians alike. They are known to be a shape-changer, the perfect actor capable of taking on any role from massive, fearsome monsters to a charming Dwarven man with just the right amount of chest hair.
Tenets of Faith
Boltun's followers typically fall into one of two groups: some believe the best stories should be told true and unaltered, perfectly preserved for generations to come. Others believe a story's worth is measured by the enjoyment of those who hear it, and if a little embellishment makes it more enjoyable, then that should be the story that is told. The most ardent of their followers, often referring to themselves as Keepers, tend to fall into the former group, but they are smaller in number than the latter, termed Narrators.
Like many other deities of the era, Boltun does not often pass down strong decrees or lofty ideals, with their worshipers often comparing their relationship with the deity as more akin to lifestyle coaching than a dogmatic religion. Followers of Boltun are often encouraged to keep personal journals, documenting their lives, thoughts, feelings, if not for themselves, then for future generations. They also emphasize the importance of literacy, with many churches running preschools or after-school programs for local youths.
Holidays
Remembrance Day Bonfire by illumiinae with Midjourney
Remembrance Day (1st of Rimereach) - a day for sharing your favorite tales of the past year, typically in the form of stories, poems, or songs. In some regions of the world, it is also common to give books as gifts to friends and families on this day.
Social
Family Ties
Boltun is believed to have fathered Sedin, deity of the oceans, winter, and navigation. Stories are often told of Boltun sneaking into the mortal plane, disguised as a spirited young sailor and spinning tales of adventures at sea, encounters with the massive carsanyo, and steamy love affairs, and there are some that believe this is the form they had taken on when Sedin was conceived, perhaps lending to his divine nature.
Boltun is not known to be in any sort of committed relationship with Lovina, Sedin's mother. Theories range from sensual one-night stands to a more unceremonious sperm donation.
