Aiad (D&D World)

Created by

The world of Aiad was created by the Gods - who soon abandoned their creation, merely a flat plane of infinite land, and left it in the dominion of their only other creation; the Aasimar.   Although merely shards of the power of the Creators, the Aasimar could shape the world around them without hindrance. They went forth, carving the land into mountains, oceans, deserts, plains, forests and biomes of every kind imaginable. In its current form, the world may as well have been created by the Aasimar.   They reproduced themselves, creating new shards of the world, who themselves used their own power and free will to make themselves as they so chose. Some became nature itself, and the Fey who protect it. Some saw terrible discord in the world and chose to work against the other Aasimar - these are the Devil Lords and the Beluca. And some even surrendered their immense power, lowering themselves to the stasis of mortal.   All beings, no matter how insignificant, can trace their origins to an Aasimar. However, as powerful as the Aasimar were, their absolute dominion over the world soon began to falter. Threats uncontrolled spilt forth from the Astral Plane - the one place where the Aasimar's dominion did not rule. And, in their arrogance, the great Aasimar kingdoms fell.   Many years have passed, and the Aasimar are no longer a part of the lives of most beings. They exist, sure; the world could not function without their existence. But beyond worship, they are all but gone. Now, the world lies in the hands of the Mortals.
