Blood Witch’s Crown

wondrous item, very rare (Requires attunement by a witch or necromancer but not if they are a vampire or dhampir)

-History-

Within the history of Zeitlos, Zander’s power has been absolute from the founding of the kingdom to the current day save for one rebellion. While the head of the Knochenwald’s Witch’s council now sits on the grand council of the Zeitlos kingdom, once they were separate bodies. A body that the former Coveness Nicole Fuchs wished to remain supreme. In year 324 she created this crown of shadows as she led an army of spirits, witches, and other creatures of the night to overthrow Zander. Stories say that Zander did not want to bring any sort of significance to this, in his words, “petty rebellion.” He tasked his personal necromancer to handle the rebellion in his stead.   The war lasted 14 months before the final push on Knochenwald witch’s academy. As the armies of the necromancer pushed forward it is said the witch lounged at the top of the city sized golem certain in both its protection and that of the Aeon of Vengeance. As she began to give the order for the golem to attack the Aeon lifted its scythe and proclaimed “Vengeance shall be done. Death to oath breakers!” With a single slash the Aeon of Vengeance depowered the golem leaving the Coveness and the rest of the Knochenwald council defenseless.   Panic ensued as witches, warlocks, and beasts alike were slaughtered. The necromancer is said to have simply glided through the carnage up to the very top before slaying the entire council singlehandedly. After the sun had fallen his own forces watched as he seemed to glide out of the golem. There for all to see, covered in gore, drenched in blood, smiling amongst the dead.

-Powers-

This crown and veil are made of animal bone coated in solidified shadow and adorned with rubies that were bathed in the blood of bestial vampires. The crown has an aura of command and unease in equal proportions.   While attuned the wearer can see spirits while they are unmanifested.   While attuned the wearer has dark vision.   While attuned the wearer casts all spells from the witch or necromancer spell lists as 2 levels higher.   Once per long rest, the attuned may transform into a shadow form of themselves for up to 1 minute. While in this form they are under the effects of the Gaseous Form spell, but shadow rather than gas and they can cast spells in this form.   If you are a witch you may, once per long rest, let your Ghostly Bond possess you for up to 1 hour by reciting the spell used to create this item. Choose body or mind:   If body is chosen, the Ghostly Spirit has control of your body. While it can do as it pleases it will still follow your orders. You gain resistance to non-magical weapons and temporary Hit Points equal to your Wisdom Modifier+Proficiency Bonus as your body fades into the spiritual realm. Once an hour has past or you take more than 15+the gained temp Hit Points in damage the Ghostly Bond leaves your body. If it left due to time it can still be used. If it did not it can’t be used until you finish a long rest.   If mind is chosen, you can maintain two concentration spells at a time. You also gain Resistance to Psychic damage and add double your Wisdom Modifier (Min 1) on Saving Throws against all compulsion checks as the magics must work against two minds rather than one. Compulsions from Artifacts and Divine level beings bypass this protection. Once an hour has past, you take more than 15 Psychic damage, or you are successfully compelled Ghostly Bond leaves your mind. If it left due to time it can still be used. If it did not it can’t be used until you finish a long rest.

-Incantation-

Boil, trouble, toil and snare.   Solidified shadow cruelly spun.   Crystallized blood from the hated of the sun.   Bone of the crow, raven, and hare.   Now come together from profane.   To hail all which would be the sane.   Rod in hand and vigor strong.   To right all slighted wrong.   Death to all. Life to none.   Crown of the rightful won.
