The Intergalactic Assembly

The council of elected officials that is supposed to exist to keep peaceful relations between all the planets that have members present. Also in charge of military protections for the collective of peoples it includes. Their laws govern the expanse of space and supersede all local governments who wish to continue to hold a spot within the council and also receive their protection.
Unfortunately this government, though sort of keeping the best interests of everyone in mind, is corrupt just as any other. Officials are typically elected with a heavy bias placed on those with superior pedigree and magical lineage. So it ends up being more often than not seats get "handed down" from a parent within the position to their child or two relatives who ends up getting elected when their predecessor steps down. Being the major military force in the universe at this time, it is rare anyone speaks up against this behavior which is why things have yet to change. There is also a large majority of people think they should vote for those with the best magical power as in the past in many places, with Agfen being no exception, people looked to families with powerful mages for protection and that idea has created some sort of hive mentality that those with great magical power make great leaders. Which makes even those who may speak up publicly, online, or in private spaces are often ignored or argued with that their ideas of how government should be would never work, completely ignoring the lack of fairness the current mentality.
Recently due to some very public actions against the Assembly carried out by a rebel group calling themselves the Defiant Rebirth over the last couple of years there is a new rumor floating around that a top secret project that is being carried out within the military laboratories of the Assembly on Agfen in an attempt to quickly quell this attempt at overthrowing the assembly.
