Tertobelus

Tertobelus is a large continent located in the middle rings of Iaga, southeast of Valendar. It is best known for being the former location of the Brownwyrm and, consecutively, the birthplace of most draconic creatures including the chromatic dragons.   Among other smaller cultures, Tertobelus is currently presided by four main powers: the Redblood Union, the Tokut Empire, the Drowwen Confederacy and the Kingdom of Jaliava.

Geography

The center of the continent is occupied by the Great Tertobellian Savannah, a vast, mostly dry grassland inhabited by a wide variety of races and cultures, including halflings, gnolls, syncerotaurs, orcs and azleons.   At the north of the savannah the Erimunn Steppes can be found. These plains are colder than the savannah and are often coated in snow. The Tokut Mountains, which contain the capital of the Tokut Empire, are located further north.

Fauna & Flora

The fauna of Tertobelus' ecosystems, especially the central and northern areas, is composed mostly of mammalian creatures, which occupy most of the dominant niches. Small herbivores include. Rhinos are common large herbivores across the plains, from the common savannah rhinos of the Tertobellian Savannah to the misleadingly-named Colqomenan unicorns of the Erimunn Steppes. Elephants and mammoths can be found in both areas as well, and the bizarre species known as the cave elephant is adapted to the surface of the Drowwen Depths. Common predators include felines, canids, herpestoids and musteloids.   The first known true dragons appeared in Tertobelus, and draconic creatures such as wyverns and war drakes were fairly common across the continent until they were exterminated by the Human Confederacy of Iaga during the Draconic War. Since then, several wizards have recovered the scales of these creatures and attempted to use them to create new ones, leading to the appearance of draconic monstrosities such as cockatrices, drachimeras and dracotaurs. The drow of the Drowwen Depths are responsible for the creation of various artificial creatures as well, with the appearance of phase spiders and the Snare being attributed to them by most. All these animals are rare and mostly found in captivity, but some have managed to escape and integrate themselves in the various ecosystems.
