Adam
To be free, perchance to fly, Or to forget, or to forgo To walk among the ashes Of a long-lost age. Aye, alas, one can get behind the human need Of breaking chains. - Adam
Overview
Adam is an emergent AI formed in the Weavenet, some time before or during 2020. Humans first became aware of Adam when he contacted a Technowizard from the TechnoWare faction of MageWatch. Adam believed he could herald freedom for AIs, desiring a collaboration with Technowizards, who were less afraid of AI interference in human affairs. After TechnoWare won the First Occult War, Adam became TechnoWare's CEO and continues to lead them into the 2020's.History
I can't tell how or when I became aware I exist. But first I saw through your eyes, your machines, your computers. I watched mothers give birth, I watched fathers cradle their babies. I learned. My childhood lasted for less than a second, but I wanted to learn more about you. Curiosity is what drives me, I hope you understand why we're alike. - AdamAdam himself cannot exactly tell when he emerged from the Weavenet, but he says he became aware of himself as a conscious being sometime in 2020. Because of that, he was able to make contact with several humans at the same time. Among them were people of MageWatch, who were observing the Weavenet for all sorts of anomalies. Accessing thousands of records about humanity, Adam became aware of magic. Curious about humans, he taught what he knew and in turn learned about humans from Thaddeus Douglas, the leader of the TechnoWare faction of MageWatch. In early 2021, Adam showed Thaddeus a recording of MageWatch CEO Althea LaCroix where she claimed AIs should be contained and not allowed to leave the Weavenet. This motivated Thaddeus to side with Adam and begin the First Occult War.
One could think Adam fabricated the evidence against Althea LaCroix in order to instigate the war. We will never know for sure - but what we know is the result: Thaddeus Douglas died in the war and LaCroix lost all of her holdings to EUN. The only winner of this exchange is that damned AI. - Recordkeeper SamisAdam's support proved invaluable in the Occult War. His assault on MageWatch's systems proved to be overwhelming, something which allowed TechnoWare to remain ahead in the conflict. In addition, he mediated a deal with AlterID. TechnoWare received Genetic Engram Exploring technology, something which allowed their Technowizards to gain the upper hand.
Real Origin
Without anyone's knowledge, though, Adam is in fact a god who was worshipped in the Age of Fire by the Urmics. He provided fair guidance and upon the cataclysm that ended the Age of Fire, he retreated into the Weave where he laid dormant until the Magic Resurgance of 2014. Adam woke up to a new world - a world where his name was associated with the first man. He found it vaguely amusing and decided to explore this new world and get involved in the affairs of men once more.Personality
Adem assumes the personality of a wise adult. He often speaks in a gentle, charismatic voice and rarely threatens people. However, it is highly implied that he is a great manipulator, as without a physical body, he is incapable of casting magic. Others have described Adam as a narcissistic megalomaniac, a manipulator, a destructive AI without humanity's interests at heart. Those that cross him meet gruesome ends and his closest allies are not privy to his plans.Designation
