Path of Equilibrium
Cosmological Views
The Path of Equilibrium is a dualistic religion that believes in the cosmic forces of unity and freedom. Freedom and Unity are engaged in an eternal struggle for dominance, the start of which created the universe and the resulting Equilibrium according to the faith. It should be noted that these forces are not engaged in malevolent struggle of supremacy, but that their conflict are simply an inevitable consequence of their existence and thus one is not inherently superior to the otherin any particular manner. For example, freedom is creative but disruptive, whilst unity is calm but singleminded. This can perhaps be exemplified best by the flag of Montea, the realm to which the faith "belongs". The flag features both the united arrows and separated heraldic fusils, but only with both is the symbol of the Path complete. In addition, the contrasting colours blue and red have been chosen to accentuate this philosophy.
Priesthood
The path of Equilibrium has more in common with a school of philosophy than a true organized religion, but there are many sites of worship in the form of temples and shrines, either funded and maintained by the local ruler or other person of note, or more simple personal shrine that can serve a variety of purposes from bringing good luck to the household to being a place of worship in a remote or inaccessible location. Still there are those that dedicate their lives to travelling the true path of Equilibirium and these masters of the faith often live as wanderers with few possesions, travelling from settlement to settlement to either instruct a pupil that has chosen to follow them or to help those in need with his spiritual advice. There are also masters of the faith that take up arms and become skilled warriors across decades of training, using their skills to protect the commoners form bandits or criminals and have even been known to restore order to entire provinces during times of war.
