The great Sellen River - with its east and west branches - flows hundreds of miles to reach the inner sea. Its eastern branch originates in the hills and mountains of Brevoy, its Western from the highlands of Ustalov and Numeria, and its main branch flows from the Lake of Mists and Veils. It passes through many nations on its journey to Star Bay by the shadowy city of Riddleport. All of these cities are defined by the river. It is the highway of trade and travel in the region, and makes eastern Avistan one of the most fertile regions in the world. The nations bounded and watered by the Sellen and its many tributaries are collectively referred to as the Riverlands, and together make for a diverse and ever shifting tapestry of peoples.
