Phorox

The snarling beast finally pins you to the ground after a long and heat-pounding race, its fangs rearing back, preparing to tear into you. Before you can resign yourself to your fate however, there is a powerful sound from behind you and a bright blue laser beam cuts straight through the beast, which flops over on top of you, dead. You hear a man's voice now, clear as a bell and a welcome sound after all of the howling and growling: "Operator, this is Unit 76, injured person, apparent civilian. Requesting two-party transport." Just as you are able to roll the mangled beast off of yourself and look behind you to see a vulpine figure in blue and white, high-tech ranger's gear holding a laser rifle, a robotic voice answers him: "Request granted. Standby for transport." "Confirmed" He looks down to you, kneeling beside you and pulling you onto his shoulder before the both of you vanish in a shimmer of light.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Phorox are pseudomammals, meaning they have almost all characteristics of mammals, but are missing one or two. In this case, they're missing being warm blooded. The Phorox evolved on a planet with a very hot climate, around 90-105 degrees Farenheit, so their bodies never developed body temperature regulation, making them cold blooded.
Outwardly, they look to be bipedal mammals of a vulpine variety with a slim, medium length snout, rotatiing triangular ears, a coat of soft, silky fur, and a bushy tail. Their forarms and calves have a slim look to them, compared to their upper arms and thighs respecively. They are digitigrade, have no dewclaw on their legs, and have six toes each on their foot-paws arrayed in mirror. Their hand-paws are one of the other very unique things about them, as they have six fingers on each, two middle fingers, a shorter index finger on either side of the middle two, then a pair of thumbs on the sides. The end result is a hand that has two mirrored halves.
Their internal organs are normal for a humanoid mammal of their size, though they do have more blood vessels than normal. Their skeletal structure, again, is unremarkable.

Genetics and Reproduction

Their genetic structure is unremarkable, as is their reproductive cycle. Both are as they would be expected of an animal like them.

Ecology and Habitats

The Phorox evolved on a planet with a stable greenhouse effect, making most of the planet roughly around 98 degrees farenheit and 1.2x O₂ concentration. Due to this, without their Enviro-Packs, they are extremely vunerable to "normal" climates.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are omnivorous, needing equal parts plant and animal matter for food.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Mostly in and around the Phoroxian Directive and the ruins of the Haldreni Empire. There are also some in the Ithari Confederacy, the AUE & HLoT (as both nations have territory that used to be Haldreni), the NOVACorps and especially the UWK. They are very rarely found in the DTE, at least willingly, and are equally rare on the other side of that empire from their home region.

Phorox tend to be a bit on the upper side of intelligence.

Tend to have only a first and last name, the last being a familial surname or title.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Phorox view almost all other races in a good light, save for any that have a tradition of slavery, such as the Drak'Thar. They have a serious weakness for primitive, non-spaceworthy species.

Their fur can take a great range of colors, from a bright rust red, to a pure white, to tarnished silver, to pitch black, and very rarely even a blue grey.
