Hagcove
A farming community which used the silt-ridden saltmarsh of the river delta for crop growing, Hagcove always remained in touch with the more ancestral forms of worship. An insular community even at the best of times, they shunned outsiders and kept to their own ways. When a portion of the population survived in cellars and storage silos during the Cataclysm, this behaviour only intensfied in the aftermath.

Government
The human population are led by the shaman, who acts as a spiritual and physical guide for their day to day lives. While the other species present are allowed to follow their own spiritual needs, they are subject to the laws set down by the Shaman still.
Defences
The surface is provided with little to no defence. A small group of the population act as guards, defending against small bands of raiders or feral animals. Much of the defences are in fact located beneath the sands; crude traps established near the farmable surface, and more elaborate mechanisms to protect against aggressors entering the buried locations.
Infrastructure
Hagcove appears initially as a decrepit sprawl of arid terrain and ruined buildings. Beneath the surface, however, many of the cellars and structures have been expanded to allow the population to survive. With repair work and regular attempts to expand further, Hagcove is a rare beacon of progress. Unfortunately, their widely known performance of heathen faiths has seen little aid offered to them in their attempts.
Assets
The storage silos are brick cylinders, sunk into the ground with exposed caps. Used to either smoke fish or store dried grains before use and transport for sale, they prove valuable for either storing supplies or have been converted into crude dwellings. They still retain some talent at creating farming implements, working what little they can on the surface.
History
Hagcove was founded by a group of humans who refused to abandon the old faiths of the world. Driven away from other settlements and pursued by a number of religious zealots, they eventually established a small village under the guise of a penitent colony. Displayed to the world, they were atoning for their sins and providing their excess resources as a tithe. In reality, their old faiths were still followed in secret.
The Cataclysm came and saw Hagcove throw aside their false pretence, embracing it as their continued faith being rewarded. Ultimately, despite the survival of much of the world, they prove such little danger that they are ignored and left to their own devices, eking out a living in the wasteland around the village.
Architecture
What little remains on the surface is worn down stone and brick. Beneath the surface, the dwellings are carved from soft stone buried beneath the sands, with slow but gradual attempts to expand further regularly pressing out. As a result, much of the underground buildings are dusted with sand, piles accruing in the corners over time. In certain places the ceiling sags, sand trickling through cracks between the blocks and piling up in drifts.
Geography
Hagcove is located near The Siltroots , established beside the small delta as the river meets the ocean. The coast is easily accessible, but the population have no boats, using ramshackle floating piers to fish away from the shoreline.
Natural Resources
Grains are surprisingly common here, sown into the silt beside the delta. The inner aspects are more similar to a salt marsh, but can still grow hardy plants during the summer months. Much of the tools, armour and weapons produced are created from petrified wood gathered from the Siltroots and reinforced with thin sheets carved from the excavated stone beneath the sands.
