Fremont
A small mining village that makes its money supporting the many prospectors that come to the area hoping to make their fortunes by discovering valuable minerals in the nearby mountains. Most of the inhabitants have lived in Fremont all their lives, and likely know little of the outside world. The town is majority human, with a few families of halflings and half-elves scattered about.
Fremont sees its fair share of outsiders who stop in town to buy supplies before heading into the mountains, but these are mostly dwarves. The townsfolk are aware of nearby communities of elves, but they mostly keep to themselves and rarely visit the town itself. Half-orcs occasionally pass through town, but these are usually viewed with suspicion if not outright antipathy. A half-orc man and his human wife have recently moved to Fremont and opened a stall selling mining supplies, but most people avoid contact with them.
Fremont is a relatively new settlement on the marches and has little contact with the city of Karis, to which it nominally belongs. The village itself is ruled by the Lord Mayor, who ostensibly manages Fremont in the king’s name. In truth, no one in Fremont can ever remember seeing a represent of Karis, and the city is happy to exist in a state of benevolent neglect.
