Safren People

The Safren people were a once an ethnicity originating from in the middle of Otsrana, but is currently a nomadic race spread across the world. They are stereotyped ethnicity and looked down upon for the way they survive and behave.

Origins

The Safron were farmers based in the middle region of Ostrana, harvesting mostly wheat and other grains. They were a prosperous people, trading their harvest peacefully with neighbouring nations. When the King of the northern adjacent nation of Thayn Sty died and was replaced by his son, King Efteran II, the overly ambitious King decided that he wanted control of the fertile Safren lands and launched an invasion. The Safron people were not fighters and pleaded with other trade partners for assistance, but no aid came. The Safren were forced to flee their lands or face extinction. While a small few tried to rebel, a small militia of farmers meant nothing to the trained armies of Efteran, and went mostly unsuccessful. Now an outcast race, they separated into smaller groups and most of them left the area, in search of nations that would take in these groups of Safren. For differing reasons, few nations actually took them in, and the Safren had to find new ways to survive.

Ostrana is known for the large amount of wars that have taken place there, leaving ruined towns and littered countrysides. The Safren seized this opportunity to scavenge battlefields, finding leftover valuables to sell in markets. This became the central way for the Safren to survive, and as history went on, they became more and more proficient, wandering the world, finding ruins and destruction to scavenge and sell. Some Safren bands would even follow war camps, even on both sides, waiting for battles to end before scrounging through. Occasionally they get involved in looting of besieged towns and cities, and even thieving.

Reputation

Overtime, a negative reputation grew for the Safren people, being viewed as dirty scavengers. They also have a reputation for being dishonest merchants when trying to sell their scrounged goods, and have the connotation of cheating people. In some places they are viewed as thieves, not to be trusted.
