The Storm Kingdom
A once great maritime nation, the Storm Kingdom was a collection of trade city states spanning much of the treacherous expanses of the Typhus seas, known for their violent summer storms. These city states were connected by a number of sea lanes that went between the island of Dirakh and the Typhus archipelago.
Disbandment
Following their defeat after a 3 year long conflict with the Kingdom of Summer, the Summer King, Telmar Sunspeare, dissolved the Kingdom of Kingdom of Storm and claimed the once great capital of Zidah as an occupied territory. This occupation would last until the Dirahi War of Independence in 195-198AL, a bloody civil war that reupted during the reign of Giron Dawnstriker in 195AL, and ended at the beginning of his son Rahim Dawnstriker's reign. Although the Storm Kingdom was officially reborn in 198AL, under the rule of Altan Dawnsbane, the illegitimate older brother of Giron Dawnstriker, the thalassocratic empire was not truly resurrected until the Storm Queen, Aella Dawnsbane, and her brothers Darius and Cyrus Dawnsbane, overthrew their father, Jahan Dawnsbane, in 259AL.
Mythology & Lore
The faith of the Dirahi centres around the Great Mother, Ghodena, who was regarded as the personification of the life-giving sea, and her three children, Orus, Latarr, and Xiara, who were the personifications of the Sun, the Moon, and the Land, respectively.
Divine Origins
Little is known about the early worship of the Dirakh deities, and whether or not they were brought to the new land from the Dirahi people's homeland or if they evolved from the cults already widespread throughout the Summer lands. What is known is that, prior to the Dirahi expansion, and the foundation of the Empire of Storm, the worship of Orus, his siblings and the Great Mother Ghodena was limited to the Island of Dirahk, with the main centre of worship located in the capital city Zidah. As the Dirahi began to expand their sea trade routes further and further, the worship of Orus, his mother and his siblings spread to cover the majority of the island nations situated within the Typhus archipelago, which either welcomed the new gods or syncretised them with their own.
