The Palace of The Lord Protector - Gant

History The Lord Protector was installed in the northern city of Gant by the then Holy Emperor Filiph the Third, or the Golden King. The first Lord Protector was a good man, a shrewd businessman and a kind and charitable soul. The people loved him and Gant prospered. His son was unlike his father; mean spirited, cruel and foolish. Soon Gant was failing to attract the trade it once had and the Lord Protector began to sell off the fine works of art his father had collected. Once they had gone the furniture went and with the Lord Protector impoverished he began to sell the fittings from the palace, in desperation even selling the lead lining on the roof.   When the revolution came the citizens of Gant directed their anger against the Lord Protector and in a final insult to the first Lord Protectors memory they hung his son from the balcony the first lord had greeted his people each Restday and set light to the crumbling palace. Terrible things happened that day he citizens of Gant expressed their outrage at the Lord Protector's corruption and through it their distain for the Holy Empire and by extension the Emperor.     The palace now stands on the main square of Gant, a charred husk, the rope used to hang the young Lord Protector still dangling from the balcony as a grim reminder of the people's wrath. The people say something must be done but none dare confront the haunt of the young Lord who walks the corridors of the palace still. The Empire hates the building as a symbol of the rebellions that started the 30 year war but would see it rebuilt as a symbol of the Empire if they could regain control of Gant and hang the rebellious Burghers of Gant as they hung the Lord Protector.
