Skalden
Located at the northern tip of the former Taldor Empire, Skalden is as cold as it is unwelcoming.
Geography
Connecting to the Northern Wastes via an isthmus to the north, Skalden's western coast is dominated by the northern-most line of the Shield Mountains. To the south, the mountains cut Skalden off from Fenholdt. To the east, the Iceflow River marks the border between Skalden and Bryte.
In the east, the infamous Sanguine River stretches from the mountains, down into the sea. While no vegetation grows near the river banks, crystals break the ground, seemingly nurtured by the waters.

Fauna & Flora
Skalden is a mostly flat tundra, with permafrost hindering all but the most stubborn of vegetation. The only forest of the area lies near the southern border, on the slopes of the Shield Mountains and near the Iceflow River to the east.
On the plains, flocks of reindeer is tended by the locals, feeding on what little vegetation can be found on the frozen ground.

Natural Resources
Skalden has only scarce natural resources and thus little trade.
From the reindeer herders, meat, milk, and thick skins are produced. The people of Skalden tend to make do with this.
From the Sanguine River, the red waters are used to grow a local delicatessen, the Skalden Beets. In addition to an aggressively red color, they are said to greatly invigorate the libido of the imbibers, something local Skaldens take pleasure in mentioning to anyone they find interesting.
