Forest Realms of Enlans

Guarded by the Emerald Knights and their Forest Wall, Enlans lies unassailable, protected from their enemies by nature itself. With a respected elven minority, Enlans relies on the intelligence and traditions of the people that came before them, their fashion and living mimicking that of the ancient elven kingdoms.
Living in harmony with their land, the kingdom may never be rich, but it is peaceful and well-protected, with few people going hungry.

Structure

Enlans is an inherited monarchy, titled Forest King or Queen.
Each individual city has its own noble rulers, simply called Lords and Ladies, who collect taxes and maintains their lands.

History

While in the other provinces, during the wars with the Star Legionnaires, the elves started mingling with the dwarves of the Shield Mountains and, over time, gave rise to the human population that would flourish, those of Enlans remained relatively secluded. They had been at war with the dwarves many times and though they saw the necessity of cooperation, never allowed fraternizing.
When the humans started moving into the forests, it was only reluctantly they were welcomed - Though they had elven blood, they had dwarven blood too.
Over time, the differences in fertility rates slowly meant a supplanting of the elves and, especially as elves started mingling with humans, a growth in half-elven citizens.
Nevertheless, the children of the elves retained their respect for the elven traditions, even through the Taldor Empire's reign.

Military

The Enlans armies consists largely of guerilla forces, lead by the Emerald Knights. They guard the Forest Wall and, when in battle, needle their enemies with arrows and hit-and-run tactics.

Technological Level

While retaining many ancient elven secrets, the Forest Realms of Enlans have greatly resisted any innovation. Their bows may shoot further than any other and their medicines cure even the strangest of diseases, but alchemy and science has little ground in the forest.

Religion

The people of Enlans revere Diana above all other gods, considering her the Patron Goddess of their lands. It is a common belief amongst the citizens that Avalon was the daughter of Avalon, a demi-goddess born before the population at large knew anything about the Gods. While some priests may consider it heretical, it is a story encouraged by the temples to Diana in Enlan.
Other revered gods include Frey, Anansi and Amaterasu.

Agriculture & Industry

While there is little traditional agricultural exploitation of the land, the people of Enlans nevertheless hunt, pick berries and otherwise, as unintrusively as possible, gather the riches of their forests.
The Emerald Knights act as both peacekeepers, soldiers, and forest managers, instructing and managing the people in the best ways of maintaining the lands.
Expert woodwork is a specialty of the land as well, with every nation in the Clipeum Provinces depending on their products.

Education

The majority of the population in some way work with the foresting industry. They are taught by their fathers and their masters, but also commonly by the Emerald Knights.

Infrastructure

Natural paths have been widened and tended to, giving rise to a road-network that is confusing to outsiders, but natural to any of the natives of the forest realms. The Emerald Knights patrol these paths, making sure they remain passable and that bandits and monsters are kept off of them.
