The Catalsym was the conclusion of the Great War - when the seven brothers of Grief fought against the Seven Sisters of Virtue and ripped a hole in the fabric of reality. This heralded the arrival of the New Deities, but has also made the fabric of reality around Aeolia weak, and more susceptible to things from other dimensions.
