For Storia Year 216

Guildmaster Rory Sefrihet,

I arrived on this plane that the locals call For Storia. One particularly helpful individual, who called themselves Edorta, said that I have arrived on the continent of Guadarnas. The air trembles with conflicting energies, chaos, destruction, madness seem to run rampant here.

I stumbled onto the town of Rouzon, located at the edge of a massive ravine they say was carved into their world by a battle between their gods. This land of Guadarnas seems to have been the home of the gods who helped For Storia come into existence. But I digress as this is not important to my mission.

The town here seems to be made up primarily of Goblins. An elder named Trord spun a tale the other night of a time roughly 200 years ago when the gods still walked amongst them. During their fight, one of the chief gods on this plane was said to create three families each getting part of their abilities, one of Chaos, one of Destruction, and one of Madness. This explains the conflicting energies that I felt when I first stepped through the portal. According to the stories these energies now are so engrained into this world, that the complete destruction of any one of these families could have a devastating effect on the world as they know it. Kupp, Zumren, Fordav, is what they call them. The devastation these three make on their own is enough to strike fear into many by Trord's words. I watched the young snuggle closer into their parents during the telling of this story.

Fordav has brought buildings down, destroyed towns and cities, and stood against a god. Kupe has turned armies against one another, brought together many to stop a god in their tracks. Zumren gets into one's mind, twisting thoughts, causing the very fabric of the area around them to turn and change. The very nature of these individuals makes me think that they could be this planets version of the chaos creatures we seek out.

Edorta is heading towards an area called the Leamingbonear Depths to the south. I think I shall accompany her on this journey to see what creatures this baren plane seems to possess. Perhaps these families are indeed Chaos creatures, perhaps I shall come across one in my travels with Edorta.

This barren land of Guadarnas is massive, stretching on for as far as the eye can see. We have been traveling for days, and I’ve yet to see a shred of green on the landscape. Everything burnt, withered. The chaos and madness in the air seem to be getting stronger, and at the same time seem to be pulling in various directions. As though there are various creatures throughout this plane touched by the chaos realm. And I know it is possible, as you have advised as such Guildmaster Sefrihet, however, I was not hoping that the feeling would be this overwhelming.

According to Edorta she knows of one Kupp currently alive. A man by the name of Bastet. She seems terrified as she says his name as if the very mention will have the being appear before us. How strange. She describes him as a tall black Tabaxi with piercing blue eyes. To her knowledge, all-black tabaxis are uncommon in this world. Particularly with eyes this blue. In fact, Edorta points out all three families seem to share this particular trait: piercing blue eyes. Something that causes her to shudder as she thinks about it.

Edorta has been short with answering any other questions that I may ask about these individuals, particularly Bastet Kupp. Any time I bring him, or the other two families up, she tenses, as if she is on the run from them, or has some other previous history. While I know her history is not my purpose here, there is no telling how long the Chaos has been part of this world, and if she does have a history with them, perhaps she knows how to get rid of them.

We've spotted smoke in the distance. Perhaps we'll stumble upon another outpost or village where we can stock up on supplies. Edorta things she should be able to return to me should she need to go and obtain supplies from any number of locations she is familiar with. Apparently, magical traveling is common in this world, and given how large it is it doesn't surprise me. She claims that she would only need something of mine to return, but the thing that has been with me the longest is this journal that I'm writing to you in. A document that I am hesitant to part with.

It is a camp. A camp of travelers. All tabaxi like Edorta. They seem to be heading towards the Leamingbonear Depths as well. Perhaps we can travel with them. Edorta seems hesitant about the idea, but perhaps she shall change her mind.

We met the leader of the group later that afternoon. An all-black Tabaxi named Bastet, and his son, Orym. Edorta seemed to be on edge around him and his family, though the young man Orym seems rather taken with her. Bastet has graciously allowed us to travel with him and his family to the Port of Giledzund on the coast of the Leamingbonear Depths. Apparently, this path must be taken in order to get to Fika to avoid the vessel being destroyed by the Triton kingdom in those waters.

How interesting a world this truly is.

The chaos around Bastet and Orym is suffocating. And yet there is still a pull towards this strange land across the sea they call Fika. The madness is calling from there. The chaos from Bastet and Orym seems pulled towards it. If the chaos is already suffocating I can't imagine what it would be like to see these three together.

I don't know that I like how Bastet keeps looking at me. It's almost as though he knows I'm not from this world, it started after I returned from Banar-Kinting with the help of Edorta.

We've finally made it to the Port of Giledzund. We'll be boarding a merchant's ship called Manta bound for the Port of Babord in Cindurria.

The look in Bastet and Orym's eyes, it's almost as if they are charmed, drawn by the call of madness. Pulled ever towards the horizon and a port we cannot yet see.

Eight weeks, 64 days we've been on the ship. I've tried several times to get close to either Bastet or his son to see if the portal ring would react, and I have been unable to accomplish this very simple task. Every time I get even remotely close to either of them someone else shows up, either the other one of them or one of the caravan they were traveling with. I was able to learn more about them on this trip though. Apparently, Bastet is a recently disposed of ruler from a kingdom in the north of Gaudarnas.

The captain assures me that we'll reach Babord in the next day or two if the weather holds.

Babord is a predominately elven city. They seemed rather unhappy when Edorta and the others stepped foot from the ship. Though Bastet and Orym didn't seem to care. They briefly glanced around the port, as if expecting to meet someone. And yet both of their glances seem pulled to the North East. I wish I knew more of what this land held, but there is life here. The ground beneath my feet has grass, there are trees with leaves of green, and flowers. Whatever affected Gaudarnas, did not affect this land. I shall try to procure a map, perhaps I can determine where we will be heading next.

Thankfully a local merchant was willing to part with a map of the Kingdom of Cindurria.

There is talk here in the port of a large group of people gathering in the Capital of Cindurr.

5 Bresis, 216

I've heard talk about a Cult gathering in Cindurr over the past two days while we gather supplies. Edorta has decided to stay with the Kupp caravan, and I shall accompany her still. They are heading in the direction that I feel the madness radiating from. Bastet and Orym's chaos seems to respond to the madness. I've watched some that we've traveled with change. They seem to shift between their normal visages and then there's this moment, a look in their eyes that I don't recognize. I've seen it in Edorta too.

9 Bresis, 216

I've watched that look flash across Edorta's face more frequently the closer we get to Cindurr. She seemed terrified when I mentioned it to her. I'm beginning to fear for our safety.

15 Bresis, 216

We continue to head to Cindurr. I've heard whispers from those we've passed on the road of a cult gathering in the city. That the city isn't safe, and it's even affecting the royal family. According to the Caravan leader that Bastet hired in Babord, we should arrive in Cindurr shortly. He seemed gleeful. Does he know the creator of this madness? Is he somehow involved in the cult? What is actually going on in this world?

18 Bresis, 216

We arrived in Cindurr. There was a look of relief on both Bastet and Orym's faces the moment we stepped foot inside the city. Whatever rush they were in to get here seems to have dissipated. The aura in the city is suffocating for me. The Madness and the Chaos. They are rampant. And yet the city is just as peaceful as any other elven settlement I've been to. The portal ring makes no reaction. Perhaps it's defective? Either that or these creatures, this chaos and this madness it's not from the Chaos Plane. If it didn't come from this plane, were the stories told by Trord correct? Did a god actually purposely bring Chaos, Madness, and Destruction to this world to keep a balance?

One thing to note, I was able to do a tad bit of research on those names Kupp, Zumren, and Fordave. They mean Chaos, Madness, and Destruction respectively.

19 Bresis, 216

I saw her. The one they call Zumren. She greeted Bastet as an old friend. And the approving look she gave Orym, sent chills down my spine. I should leave here while they are all distracted. But can I leave Edorta? She's spent some time with Orym now and seems enamored with him. Can I even bring her with me?

20 Bresis, 216

They know. They know I'm not from here. Zumren has sent a search party out for me. I heard Edorta trying to plead with Orym and Bastet, to no avail it sounds like. I tried to return last night, but the portal seems blocked somehow. Something I've never heard of happening. Is it them?!? Do they have that much power?

No.

Forgive me.
