The Ryne Monarchy looms. Once a simple kingdom on a continent filled with warring, tribal kingdoms, the Ryne is the last remaining. Over the centuries, the Ryne pushed its borders further, extending southward from its capital in
Oxstetten to the Twice-Sunken City of
Kleibaue, westward to encompass the entire
Thorn Coast, eastward into the wilds of
The Evermoors--conquering those who resisted, absorbing those who relented. On the continents of Northern and Southern Veluna, no other power is its equal. No other kingdom or country its rival.
Within its borders, however, some have grown concerned over the stalling campaign to the east, where the free peoples of the Evermoors have begun to push back against encroachments on their lands. To the south, Kleibaue's power has withered after both natural and daemonic catastrophes.
The Unsettled Stem remains resistant as ever to long-term habitation, and exploration of
Bachmann's Ruin has been slow, the latter led by criminals and political exiles preferring to avoid execution or imprisonment.
And it is to one of these colonies of Bachmann's Ruin that the adventurers--former soldiers, basic laborers, rudderless pirates--soon travel. In part, they go for profit, in part for duty or honor. One notion holds true: Should they return, they shall be forever changed.
