Mashura Language in Adijari | World Anvil

Mashura

There is a language to existence, a way to communicate to the layered forces of the universe with sound. It is a vastly unknown language, but even snippets of it can bring great power. To speak Mashura is to command action from the universe. What makes Mashura incredibly difficult to learn is that it is not a still language. It alternates with the atmosphere and fluctuates with the changing wind. Words said when there is an eastern breeze demand a different pronunciation when the air blows north, or blows slower, or colder, or carries moisture. The variation of what is already an infinite language has made it impossible to record, thus only the greatest listeners can speak it, and even then only some phrases.  Elves, due to their enhanced hearing, complex vocal structure, and affinity to tap into energy within the atmosphere, are the most able in deciphering this language. Druids spend hours on end studying and experimenting with their voice to learn songs within the language to bring about miraculous results. From summoning spirits against their will, healing themselves and the sick, enhancing themselves inflicting curses, or blessing armies with enhanced strength, everything has a song to it that can be learned. The extent of power though this language is really only limited by a person's dedication and life span, for though there are songs to improve, heal, and lengthen life, these spells can themselves take decades to learn, and the one song that does not exist is one for immortality. There has been some success in teaching some songs orally, with druids spending as much time teaching mentors how to listen as they do how to speak. Aside from druidic elves, the only others to learn Mashura has been qui-lahks with an affinity for language such as the crow-lahks.
