Set three billion years after the destruction of Earth, mankind's billion species now live in the shadow of their former kin who became living Gods. The few remaining relevant human players - posthuman demigods and AIs created by ancient empires - continue to play their games of survival in the ever-shrinking buffer zones between the Gods, using whole civilisations as pawns. Around them, some of the transcendent intelligences prepare to demolish casualty itself, obtaining omnipotence. Others are eager to stop them at any cost - perhaps the very fabric of reality will soon crumble as Gods of the nigh sky will wage their final war.
