Prince Aurelien De la Roche

Prince Aurelien De la Roche is the prodigal son of the Mad King Tarik. Currently residing in (capital city), Aurelien is a typical spoiled Prince whose head has been filled with the propaganda of his father and Magic Folk. He's been brought up on a diet of lies and tough love. As the only remaining heir and (now) Prince of Tasnela, Tarik raised his son to be hardened; no room for love, compassion or empathy.
His only goal? To "protect" Tasnela from all traces of Magic. Aurelien was only child when his mother and sister died and The Purge began so his hatred of Magic comes easy to him. He never questions his father, believing him to be an all-knowing and wise King despite the abuse he receives and the cold-blooded murder he's ordered to complete.
His upbringing has forced him to have a stone heart; devoid of any and all kinds of relationships. He constantly feels lonely but because he has never felt affection (except for when he was a small child, but he barely remembers his mother and sister) he doesn't know this feeling is loneliness. He doesn't trust anyone except his father and even that trust is built on a shaky relationship. His loneliness has made him arrogant, cruel and quick-tempered.

Mental Trauma

After his mother and sister died when he was young, his father turned cold-blooded and cruel. Tarik turned all his anger, grief and regret onto his only son in the form of physical and mental abuse. Tarik tells Aurelien that he hurts him out of love, so Aurelien can become a strong and powerful King. This has caused Aurelien to become withdrawn from the world and fearful of any kind of love or compassion. He's extremely lonely but doesn't know it.

Despite his big head and stone heart, Aurelien is actually quite smart. His intellectual qualities are hindered though because of his upbringing. Tarik raised him to be a hardened solider; to use force and power to make it in the world.
