Glazem
This large trading city located on the southern edges of the Eastern plateau was under siege for most of the Great War. Control of Glazem switched between Empire and Republic no less than five times. Glazem and the surrounding area were retroceded to the Empire following the Accords. Throughout the war, the Beholder Erhmal the Builder and his minions hid under the city and spun and respun a web of influence with each successive change of leadership. Ermahl’s agents covertly assisted each side and protected select residents to accumulate favors. Once the troops left, nearly all of the citie’s surviving notables owed favors, knowingly or not to Ermahl, through his proxies.
Ermahl guided the reconstruction of the city to his wishes and managed to secure much funding from the three local Banking Houses. After two decades, circa 3015, Ermahl’s natural paranoia was overcome by his pride of the greatness of his city and began to rule in the open under the tile Ermahl the Builder. He also formalized his control of the region approximating the area covered by the former Imperial province of Gaanick.
Among the landmarks built by Ermahl is the Great Glazem Cryptodrome where various creatures, some of them horses, race along a permanent race track complete with obstacles and magical hazards.
