Taslyn Cordaer
Taslyn Cordaer is a drow sorcerer born to the fallen Underdark city of Eoghulvaskas. Following the events of the Underdark Rising, he established the city of Shade in the western reaches of Acaelica and remains its acting sovereign.
With Palasar Tolthik and Inibis Valmeia, he has been given the title of Volta as a contender to wield the Divine Spark should it eventually be located.
Biography
Underdark Rising
A decorated general and hero before the destruction of his Underdark home by overworld intercession, Taslyn assembled the largest coordinated assault on Acaelican soil in the continent's recorded history.
He revealed--however unintentionally--that large forces can travel vertically in Acaelica without invoking ravelwinds. Using an uncanny knowledge of overworld geography (and benefitting from the lack of this destructive phenomenon in the Underdark), Taslyn split his considerable force into geographically disparate cells and coordinated a multi-front invasion of the surface from below.
His many militias were able to overrun defenses with little more than surprise and superior numbers. His forces would still be massively depleted by the winds in the end, however. Following significant but geographically disparate success, attempts to rendezvous and muster strength invoked the winds upon many who had never seen nor heard of them before.
Countless drow were slaughtered as a result of ravelwinds and Taslyn has since publically beared responsibility for their deaths. His sincere apology unfortunately did little to diminish his feelings of guilt or the animosity that many of his own people now hold for him, however.
The Demon War
The Scourge of Acaesura
On 21 Arc Kisma, 1156CR, each of the threee voltas collaborated to cast a devastating magic ritual designed by Lady Mallory. Although the Lady kept its totality a secret from each volta (to prevent any one of them from performing it alone), the three together were able to manipulate ravelwinds to purge both Ozcymath and his army from the Prime Material Plane.
Although this victory came at the cost of Acaesura itself (along with nearly all life thereupon), few have questioned its morality or necessity. Whatever opinions a person holds of the voltas individually, there is a widespread undercurrent of gratitude for their having ended The Demon War.
The Ascension War
Public Opinion
With Acaelica at large resentful of the outsider in their midst and a pervasive sense of betrayal felt among his own people, Taslyn very likely has the smallest (though still perhaps most ardent) following of the three voltas engaged in The Ascension War.
His willpower, resourcefulness and command of the arcane cannot be understated, however, and none can deny his pivotal role in defeating Ozcymath. Taking also into account his public admission of past mistakes and apparently profound sense of honor, Taslyn tends to garner support from those who fear Palasar's isolationism and Inibis' unpredictability and those who simply favor an underdog.
