I like this story. Feels like a game I would like to play.   This option of customize name is one I seldom use, when it is optional. I suppose many people consider that important. Appearance is something that surprises me more in videos talking about games. The time dedicated to that is huge.     As a player I like, a lot, character creation. And I cannot say that I don't forget the time sometimes playing with hair types, scars, shapes of eye and colours, when there are interesting options available. But there is very little to talk about those things, and they are certainly not what matters in character creation. Ideally, I would like to play a game where ALL decisions in character creation had some relevance in the game. Didn't had to be life changing, but some comment about your hair if you make a choice, a gang that will only allow your entrance if you have a given tattoo, a character that does not date anyone with a given eye colour, or that only trusts people who have scars in their face. That sort of detail.   Am yet to find such game. Usually cosmetic decisions are meaningless, and could be excluded without change anything in the experience of playing the game.   What diference makes if my character has the same skin tone and eye colour I have? I can't see any. Especially when those characteristics have neither meaning nor consequence in the fictional Universe where my character exists.

Yeah I purposely provided really basic customization just so that the story itself could feel more controlled. The more variables added, the harder it is to write, and the slower it comes out. I thought I might as well add the minimum though, so that the reader can insert themselves to some degree if they'd like. Things like name and favourite colour are so easy for me to add that I'd feel strange not including them at least! It's nice to be able to focus on the story instead of having to consider tons of variables every page haha.   I wrote a story on the site once before that used a ton of variables for tracking friendship levels and stuff and it became a nightmare to update... Very sad.

I can imagine! Never wrote a game, only short tales and never professionally. Originally, when I published the first draws in Deviantart, my goal was to develop the skills to make erotic comic book stories. That battle is long lost as forgotten. Games feel like an even harder task.   On the other hand I do like RPGs, so, of course, I have the fantasy of write them. Think about, some now and them, just for fun.   Did you learned how to write games at Chyoa or before enter that site?

I'm definitely no programmer. Just a writer. I've made D&D campaigns, and I've messed around in RPG makers and stuff way back, but CHYOA is pretty straight forward. It's literally just variable tracking to show/hide a page or show some kind of stat on the sidebar, so I can't claim it's really me making a game all that much! Haha
