Devil's Dice
A common dice game where the goal is to get to the number 24, or as close to it without going over.
Note: The amount of 1gp is an example number used for simplicity, however any amount may be used, just so long as the ratio remains the same throughout the game.
What is needed:
a dice set (1d12 minimum, 3d12 preferred)
2-4g minimum
To play, a player must pay a buy in, usually 1gp. All money wagered go into the Pot. Once money is in the Pot, it cannot be removed til the game is over. Winner takes the Pot.
To start, each player places their buy in. Once all players are in, the player to the left must pay 1gp to play, and rolls 2d12. They may choose to keep their number, or they can choose to buy another d12 roll for 1gp, or reroll one or both of their dice for 2gp. You may only reroll once.
The next player then has to either pay 1gp to roll, or can fold and forfeit the money in the Pot.
At any point if a player rolls 24, they immediately win the entire Pot.
At any point if a player rolls OVER 24, they immediately lose the Pot.
The first player to reach 24, or the closest player to 24 at the end of all the rolls, takes the Pot, and a new game begins with the NEXT player to the left.
OPTIONAL RULES:
Double Down: At the start of their turn, before the roll, a player may call "Double Down." When they do, they immediately pay TWICE the play amount and roll 2d12 ONCE. They cannot buy additional rolls, nor can they reroll. The cost of ALL other rolls for that game become double. Rolls that have already happened are unaffected.
Pairs: At any point if a player rolls pairs, they can either double the total, or reroll one of the dice for free.
