Margot du Mer I

A powerful wizard, slayer of the Ozumat - the Kracken of Havere, and founder and first queen of the Royaume du Terdiore. Much is lost to history about Margot du Mer and much of the history is legend and folklore. According to historians, Margot du Mer and a small group of adventurers discovered a way to kill the legendary Kraken of Havere who terrorized the Glass Sea prior to the settlement of Trystire west of the Ridgeback Mountains.
After the beast was slain, she organized the planning and construction of Havere, established the Royaume du Terdiore and was crowned its first queen. Her reign is legendarily productive, just, and noble and lasted thirty years at which time she abdicated the thrown to her eldest son.
Her original surname is unknown but she was renamed du Mer, meaning "of the sea" in Havercois after the slaying of the Kracken. The majority of her lineage regardless of gender is given the du Mer surname in her honor.
As a commoration of her victory over Ozumat a giant colossus-sized statue of her was raised in the harbor named The Beacon of Margot's Flame of often referred to as just The Beacon. The colosssus acts as both a light house for wayward ships to make home as well as a stark reminder to those who would threaten the people of Havere.
