Northern Temple of the Moon
Guarded by an ancient being, the temple stands by itself on an isolated plateau. In the center of the building lies a pool of still clear water. When the moonlight hits it, the water glows blue, and its magic activates. No one knows how or when the temple was built, only that time does not wear away at its walls, as if it is frozen. The pool is incredibly dangerous. It can kill any being whose magical properties do not align properly with those in the water. Even those with the same magic may die in the process of their awakening if they do not possess the strength to be reborn.
Purpose / Function
The Northern Temple of the Moon served as the awakening place for dragons in the past, then Dragonborn too. Now, though it is mostly forgotten, it is used in the awakening of the Maa'los. The current Maa'los Dragonborn travels to the temple to be reborn as a true dragon, or if they are already dragon, to fully join their natural magic with their Maa'los magic.
Denizens
A single creature lives here permanently. His name has been lost, and he is called only the Keeper. He tends to the pool, and makes sure that their are no unwelcome guests.
Valuables
Water from the Moon Pool can give life or death. Even small vials of it can heal any wounds, though they can also kill slowly, depending upon the magic of the user.
Special Properties
The magic of the pool when activated by the moon is compatible with water, air, and spirit magic. Those who are transformed by the pool go through a long metamorphosis. The pool freezes over, and entombs the dragon or dragonborn inside. The dragonborn dies and dissolves into the water. Then, the magic of the pool weaves a new body for the dragon or dragonborn if they are strong enough. Finally, the individual emerges a new, more powerful and complete being.
Alterations
Their are no known alterations to the building, and none seem able to be made, as the building remains forever the same. Some have speculated that its time was stopped using an ancient magic.
Architecture
The entire building is made out of continuous stone. There are many arches and there are no straight walls. The center room has no ceiling, and is open to the sky.
