Draconian (Drakhratha Dialect)
While the dragons and dragonborn can understand one another, they have many phrases that each does not understand. There are still a few phrases that have been passed from the dragons to the dragonborn in some form or another.
Chulke zol srul
(something) is full of tails
This phrase is used to warn others that the path ahead is uneven, dangerous, or unsteady. Its origins are in the fact that a room full of dragons is hard to navigate without stepping on all the moving tails. For example, if a trail had many rocks and roots that could trip the unwary, it would be "full of tails."
"Count your treasures"- Make sure you have everything you need, or check that you have not forgotten anything. Though Dragonborn do not hoard in the same way that dragons do, the saying stuck around.
"Just a scale" - not a big deal.
Drakhrathke aro sar ndriske
Dragons aren't trees
An odd phrase with an uncertain origin. Dragonborn use it when they spot an obvious lie. Example: dragonborn 1:"I just found a mountain of gold." dragonborn two: "Dragons aren't trees." Supposedly, this phrase came about after a dragonborn saw a dragon, but it was actually just a tree. No one is quite sure how the saying spread. It is even heard in areas that have few or no trees.
Gichke aad sronde ad
may you find your talents
Used as a formal farewell, or if it is a close family/friend that you do not expect to see for some time. It can be compared to a wish for good luck and prosperity. However, dragonborn do not believe in luck, and devote much of their time to improving themselves, this phrase is the result.
