Damarand, the dragontail's blade

The most legendary weapon of the long lost Ordeide Empire was certainely the Damarand. A longsword inbued with both divine and malevolent powers But how this weapon became the most famous? Certainely because of all the mysteriousness around its creation and its power.   In the first age of the Ordeide Empire, Appollyon the Malevolent, dragon of doom, deadliest being in the whole world, was threatening the rise of the Empire. The Blessed Emperor Nathaniel The First, father of the Ordeide empire, fought with the foul beast in an epic battle to defend the Empire. In the legend, the battle lasted four days without any significant blow dealt to any of the two combattants. The dragon, massive by its size was destroying towns and cities with its own body while defending from the Emperor powerful blows. Nathaniel noticed that if the battle would continue any more, he would not rule on an empire, but on a pile of rubble. His majesty put all his power, might and strength in one blow, so powerful that the dragon Appollyon had to dodge. But the attack was also so fast that he could not do fully. The last scale of the tip of the dragon's tail was cut off, and in a screaming grunt, the dragon fled.   The scale, left to Nathaniel like a reward for the fight, was inbued in a strong and malevolent aura of vilessness. The hatefulness was so strong that it is said the scale had a mind of its own and moved by itself to cut Nathaniel throat while he approached it. But the Emperor overpowered the scale. Nathaniel decided then to make a weapon out of this unique and deadly component. The Emperor went to the best master blacksmith of all, the dwarf Gruni the kingswordsmith. Using the scale, the dwarf created a magnificent flame-bladed longsword which he called cursed as the blade had the bad habit of trying to cut off its wielder's head. The sword was fully black and its blade only made from the scale. The dwarf had successfully carved the scale in a long and honed blade. The hilt, also black, made of dwarven corundum and set with a unique round ruby, and the pommel, white, made of Ironsilk, a silk only known by dwarves. Gruni named the blade Damarand.   The Emperor went in numerous battles with the Damarand and came out each time victorious. Thinking he had tamed the blade as never the Damarand tried to cut off his head, Nathaniel grew careless. During the induction ceremony of the new High-Prince Raphaiel, first son of the Empire, Nathaniel had planned to gift the young man the sword for his twentie one birthday. As the young prince bowed to be bestowed the sword, the Emperor placed the Damarand in his hands. And the sword cut both of them.
