Rosetta Gaol
Situated in the southwestern part of the Nukojja region of Preal, this megastructure measures almost 1 kilometer across and spans over nearly 200 acres of land. It is currently the biggest pinitentiary in history. It houses over 4000 of the most notorious prisoners from all around Aureia. The organization under the same name oversees its operation, with Jasmine Coldflower at the head.
Purpose / Function
The gaol was first built to accommodate prisoners from different castle jails and keep dungeons. This quickly became a popular service for law enforcement authorities who preferred to pay a prison upkeep fee instead of being directly responsible for the jailed themselves. After some anti-magic treaties were signed, the prison also made the steps to provide proper incarceration facilities for the more dangerous magic-using criminals.
Architecture
This well fortified complex is built in the shape of a six-petal flower with a high wall surrounding it. Each of the six prison wings has its own cell block, courtyard, mess and all the staff facilities. A 5 story keep towers above the jail in the middle. This keep also has access to the more heavily secured basement prison block. The building is stood in a low grassland area, which only makes it look more imposing.
History
The first designs for this structure were drafted by Kóren Zeléna, a famous elven architect at the time. Construction started 20 years later and took 15 years and around 3000 workers to complete. Soon after, prisoners started to transfer here, and it took nearly 10 years before the number of incarcerated people even came close to its capacity. Over 100 years passed before plans for a basement area were created by an unknown architect. This was never publicly disclosed.
