Personal history

Charlotte Étienne was born in a small town in France to parents Claudia Étienne and Richard Étienne. One year later, her younger brother, Charles Étienne was born.
Both Charlotte and Charles were born after the end of The Starfall, and lived to see the dawn of the new era (era AP, or After Plague).
The family of four lived a fairly normal life, but were low on finances. Despite that, Charlotte had a normal schooling. After finishing high school, she went to college and studied journalism. She ended up moving to Paris, France when she landed a job at a newspaper press, where she would write articles. It was her first time truly away from her family. Charlotte and Charles Étienne had a very good sibling bond growing up, so not seeing him for a while made her very nervous. The two ended up writing letters back and forth for years, and Charlotte would occasionally visit her parents' home, where Charles still lived.
When Charlotte was 22, she fell in love with a man named Alfred Favre, who she intended to marry. However, her heart was broken when Alfred called the marriage off. The both of them wanted children badly, but Charlotte was unable to get pregnant, and Alfred refused to adopt. Charlotte had always wanted children, so the news that she was infertile devestated her.
Only months later, she got a letter from Charles that said he was going to be joining rebel forces. He had learned that the government had been hiding the fact that some Stars had been kidnapped or otherwise killed, and he intended to do anything he could. Charlotte wrote back to him telling him not to do it, as she feared for his safety, but it was too late. He never responded.
Charlotte grieved the loss of her brother, thinking he was dead. She even went to their parents, but they never had a funeral for him. No one could find @Charles Étienne. He had disappeared off the face of the earth.
However, years later, Charlotte got a box and a letter from the government late at night. Officers were at her door, and informed her of the death of her brother. They handed her his remaining belongings, and a letter, letting her know that "the child will be here in eight days".
Charlotte read the letter and wept at what was written:
"In the case of the death of Charlemagne Éthan Étienne, the sole parent of Lucelle Louise Étienne, the child shall be transferred into the custody of Charlotte Louise Étienne."

History

Charlotte and Charles grew up together, having a very close sibling relationship. After Charlotte moved to Paris, France to get a job, their communication faltered. After awhile, Charles stopped sending letters. Though Charles is now deceased, Charlotte still loves him with all her heart, even though some memories of him pain her.

History

Lucelle was put into the custody of Charlotte after her parents' deaths when Lucelle was six. Ever since then, Charlotte has cared for Lucelle as if she were her own daughter. However, both end up withholding information from each other. Charlotte hides the fact that Lucelles mother, Dosią Étienne, was a Star, and Lucelle hides that she knows this when she figures it out. Though Lucelle loves Charlotte with all her heart, she sometimes goes against her aunt's advice.
