Rustspring Pub and Barbeque

Write about a pub, hotel, inn or tavern... Who stays there? What's the food like? (August 2022 writing prompt)   Next to Castle Rustspring, across from the Glitch Vegetable Field, lies what would look like a barn if it was visible. However, since the bar is on a Midnight-Class planet wreathed in eternal pitch black midnight that causes lights to only function at 33% and most of the ground is obsidian, not much can be seen at all. Worse yet is the cold! It is so cold that most living things, even the mechanical inhabitants, die within seconds if they aren't protected. Lately, an error in a shielding system has spread, making the area safe enough that it's only deathly cold (-8 F), instead of lethally (-40 F).   Most of the people who work or eat there are what appear to be primitively crafted robots, though they are exceptionally well-programmed, but appear to be incapable of socially advancing even to the age they clearly came from, instead living in a permanent Medieval era. The barman and chef serve what appear iron and copper rivets and screws in bowls, as if they were nuts at a bar, though these are actually edible since they come from the metal fruit and vegetables grown locally.   There are many dull moments with farmers just as exhausted from a day's work as a human would be, as they do have all the same biological functions. Though, lately there has been a new species joining them at their tables- humans.   Though, these humans are not ordinary either. They all bear obvious signs of long lives of malnourishment and scarring, coming from a different reality than the glitch do. But the glitch are not the only inhabitants from their universe, as one well-spoken and emotionally conservative three-eyed hylotl, or fish-woman named Yumiko comes by when she has time in between working her electronics shop.   Minorities exist besides the lone hylotl, though. Hydrangea the floran, a primitive and carnivorous humanoid plant alien that presents as female, a giant squid demon made of shadow and ink named Screams Against Someone Else's Cage, and a surprisingly brightly-haired human woman obsessed with parties and grenades that explode like fireworks are regulars, being a party of meat providers due to their constant hunting of monsters so their meat can be cooked up.   The demon doesn't eat, though his enjoyment of torture and humiliation has come to be a pleasure to all, as when he appears from the darkness, he holds whatever monster he's caught aloft, jiggling it around like it was a stuffed animal, pretending like he was a parent with no ventriloquism skill. He speaks oddly, insulting a glitch knight, who feigns a reaction to being insulted, and impales the monster on his lance. This is then placed over a spit, and it is revealed to all that this is simply the day's roast.   I mean, who wants to eat mashed potatoes made of metal every day?

Purpose / Function

This was originally supposed to be a barn that housed the House's mechanical chickens and fluffalo, but the monsters that roam the planet got to them before any of them could be saved. In response to this, Lord Rustspring decreed that the village should be redesigned, with his castle next to and overlooking the building, the building should become the center of town instead of its outskirt, and more knights and guards should be trained.   Since completion of this, the bar is actually safe to attend and relax in. The automato, currentcorn, boltbulb, diodia fields, and Slave Hole are all nearby as well.

Entries

At this time, there exists only a single entry. This is partially for defense, but mostly for safety due to the extreme environment of the planet itself. There is a single set of double-doors built to be larger than the doorway they accompany, each bearing a single thick iron reinforcement across its center.

Denizens

200 glitch from StarBound, a floran from StarBound, a hylotl from StarBound, a dozen humans from Mad Max, a human from Terraria, and a demon from The Good Place all live nearby.   However, the owner of the planet is an unnamed NS5 robot from "i, Robot". It was given the nickname of Fiver by Nion, a saiyan warrior from Dragonball, when they met in Pokemon. The robot has since upgraded itself to a point it didn't consider itself an NS5 anymore, but an NS6. So it asked that its nickname could change to Sixer. It now calls itself Sevener, and it's only a matter of time before that changes again.

Contents & Furnishings

Inside Rustspring Pub and Barbeque, a title only given but not officially recognized, there are well-made but somewhat cragged round wooden tables, with backless wooden chairs. In the center of each of the tables is a small candle, which provides even less light than one would expect.   Along the stone-brick walls are various steel torches which try to push the darkness back so people can see each other and their surroundings. There is a bar with a few hand-carved relocated tree stumps that acts as stools.   In the center of the barn-turned-pub, is a fire pit equipped with oversized spit-grooves, large enough to hold a knight's lance over the roasting pit.

Architecture

Rustspring Pub and Barbeque's architecture is of the glitch outpost style, being well-crafted bricks made of crude stone. The stone is not obsidian, and there are no nearby locales showing obvious mining. Wherever the cobblestone came from that this building and the other nearby ones were crafted from is anyone's guess.

Tourism

As part of a planet existing within the Static Map, tourism by those living in other dimensions or universes is not possible. At the same time, no one living within the Static Map has yet to learn how to freely travel within it!
Parent Location
Environmental Effects
Just like all Midnight-Class planets, Daenc Hydrax 4 is a frozen world where the light never shines. There is a sun it orbits, but it's a frozen star, and its light makes it even colder than it is anyway. There isn't much moisture in the air at all, as the planet doesn't have an ocean or even any lakes.   Any attempt at increasing the amount of light is pointless; the planet itself decreases light of any natural or technological source by 66%.   The natural temperature of the entire planet is -40 F.
