Damarnah, Old Capital of Euliess

"Leave it to only to the spires of Damarnah should you wish to impress upon strangers the greatness of the Alkeray, for held in those spires are countless works and mechanisms built only to challenge and usurp the beauty of those which came before. Leaping across the afternoon raindrops, the shimmering alabaster of these constructs beguils to eye, only to hide even greater treasures beneath its ivory skin, concealing the myriad workshops of master Alkeray, working endlessly to produce wonders of vast and incomparable strangeness, each more idiosyncratic than the last, almost in mimicry of their gleeful masters..."
-The City of Makers and Madmen,Alewe Senn, Alkeray Poet of Damarnah,
Damarnah was the capital of Euliess, The Lonely Land, a place of joyous crafts and creative quintessence, referenced often in the timeless romances and revelations of ancient poets. For many, visiting Damarnah was a life-changing experience, the city's streets filled with artists and adorers of all kinds, dancing betwixt the glistening downpour, drawing creative impetus from even the greyest of minds. Unfortunately, Damarnah would also be first to fall, its most prized masterwork, The Fountain of Sau Epheren, becoming the black, weeping tomb of the Betrayed One during the last days of Euliess.

Government

Like any settlement of Euliess, there was no formal government in Damarnah, with the Alkeray instead holding elected councils when necessary, depending on a somewhat dysfunctional democracy to handle issues. It is believed that part of what made Euliess such an isolated, inactive nation was a result of this hands-off approach to government, with most Alkeray either more concerned about making a living or working on their crafts.

Industry & Trade

Damarnah subsisted mostly by trading its wares with foreigners and visiting Alkeray from other parts of Euliess. While independent businesses existed, the extremely decentralised nature of Euliess meant that Damarnah, like the rest of the nation, was very much an clumsy arrangement of civilised artists at best, and an anarchic mess at worst.   For a time the people of Euliess did trade with and build economy from interactions with the nomadic spirit folk surrounding their nation's borders, however, as time passed, and the influence of Pale Longflesh grew, Euliess, and by extension Damarnah, fell into deeper and deeper isolation, eventually causing widespread cancellation of all foreign trade, shortly followed by a collapse of local economy. Unfortunately, by the time this occurred, much of Euliess was already consumed, the candlelight of Damarnah serving as the centre of its downfall.
