The Matriarch
Matriarch Bloodscale (a.k.a. The Matriarch)
"I think, my Emperox, that the human race is a stain. Their people treat us like we are the monsters that once ruled. The monsters that we helped them overthrow. They don't care that we can be smarter than them, that we can be stronger than them... that we can be better than them. I would submit to the Council, that as their disunited kingdoms bicker over land and resources, as their traders treat us like dirt, that we strike whilst the draconic omen is fresh.
"I can marshal every lizardfolk in Xuquan and in the coming weeks I can burn down their mightiest cities. I can defeat every warrior they can muster, I will salt their lands in crimson and I swear to you, on my ancestors and my descendents, the humans will know the true strength of the Empire of Many Colours."
Matriarch Bloodscale, The Call for War
The big bad of the setting, or, at least she is at the center of all the problems albeit indirectly most of the time. Still, she is a big important figure in the setting.
Thirty years ago, the Matriarch conquered the continent. She personally lead her lizardfolk warriors against the warriors of the continent, and she never lost a battle against them.
For thirty years, she led the effort building her palace, a great fortress in the heart of a once great elven city. She did originally deal with revolts against her personally, however as they became less impressive and more desparate, she delegated. Since her daughter went missing, she called back most of the army, and the fortress has been sealed.Physical Description
General Physical Condition
The Matriarch is at her pinnacle of fitness, both for a lizardfolk and a warrior. She is well toned, and has muscles that ripple with every movement. Her teeth are razor sharp, and her claws are well kept. Her scales are dull, and covered in scars, if they cause her pain, she does not show it.
Facial Features
The Matriarch is a lizardfolk, and as such has the head of a large amphibious reptile. Her mouth is home to two rows of razor sharp teeth, perfect for ripping and tearing. Her feathering spreads from her forehead, over her head, and down to the back of her neck. She has a pair of scars on her face, and two thick, spike like horns either side of her feathers.

The Great Exodus
When the Matriarch sent out her call, many people assumed that it would be a lost cause. The last calling had been an abject failure when the Black King attempted to oppose the Empire of Many Colours. But this time, the lizardfolk listened. It started in the City of Light, when lizardfolk commoners threw down their pickaxes and foraging equipment, and picked up swords. The exodus never had a spark, but started with the birth of the Bloodscale Oath Guards. Rumours of the blessing of Tiruleth turned the lizardfolk into warriors that resembled the more draconic gods. This heresy, much decried by the rest of the Rainbow Council, spread amongst the lizardfolk. Less as religious fervor, and more of a purpose. The chance of doing something more. The Matriarch had taken her position through strength of arms, and she kept her position by stoking the flames of her people. As the exodus spread throughout the Empire, it reached further. Further, and further until every lizardfolk had heard the cries of the Matriarch, the cries that would lead to the rise of their people. Other monstrous races, tired of living as equals in the Empire, or those whomst the realm of humanity had vilified, joined the call. When the Dominion of the Bloodscale Matriarch set sail from the Empire, it is said that 90% of the entire lizardfolk population of Xuquan joined the Matriarch. The Three Day Siege
The eastern continent, Asoris, home to the humans, the elves and the dwarves, was not prepared for the Invasion. It started in Heartsford, where the Prince fought valiantly, but was slain by the Matriarch herself in single combat. The southern realms collapsed with very little combat from the invasion armies. The Matriarch lead her armies in the most bloody battles, always coming out victorious. The city of Elhalenor however, home to the high elves, was the only city that gave the invasion pause. The one time in history where if the pendulum had swung the other way, Asoris might be free. But the Matriarch herself brought the wrath of the gods down upon the city. There was no pause, no willingness to compromise and with the loss of lizardfolk life so high, the Matriarch turned to the Emperox. The Emperox who granted her the power. It is said that when the gates of hell swallowed the elven city, that the entire world froze. In horror? In mourning? In awe? Or perhaps all three? Monstrosities turned the elves, the elves that been the last bastion against the bloody tide, they turned the elves into further monsters. Creatures of rot and decay. The necrosis spread across the city, no elf being spared. And the Matriarch watched as the city of Elhalenor rotted from the inside. For five years, the city had harassed the invasion forces. For five years, the elves helped humanity fight against the Matriarch and her forces. But when the time came, and the Matriarch turned her golden eyes towards them... Three days was all it took for the city to fall. The Dominion would stop expanding a year after the high elves went extinct. And even now, three decades later, no living creature will enter the corpse of Elhalenor with the expectation of leaving alive. All thanks to the Matriarch.
