A Man Traveling Three Days West With No Sword Shall Die

A man traveling three days west with no sword shall die.
The idea of this is that he has no good weapon to protect himself. Even if he is wielding a bow and arrow, a rod, or some other form of defense, it will not be enough for what tragedy awaits him as he continues westward.

Historical Basis

Although the first case was not technically recorded (and therefore results in many discrepancies), many events have since occurred to 'solidify' its validity.   A former warrior of the Kingdom of Eiterland (who had taken up residence in Wynsumheord) was summoned once again unto the king. He'd left on rather good terms and was called upon by will to finish a task. When the soldier made the trek east to Eiterland, he met the king and complete the task, but in the process, he lost his sword. The king new that the fighter had to get back to his family in his new village soon, for a storm was on the horizon that would last at least a week. The journey would take three days if he left straight away, but he was afraid to without a sword. Due to this, the king gifted him with the prized and decorated family sword that was passed down through the ages-- only with the agreement that he would promise to one day return the sword. The warrior believed that having the sword with him allowed him to travel west and safely arrive home.   Another instance was when Syndri and Magnar were traveling west to return some stolen gold to a nobleman in Syperragg. They made their way from Dryhtenhaven to Cloddendale (to stop the thief) and continued on westward to the northernmost part of Syperragg. Magnar was sure that the trip would only take them two and a half days at the most, but Syndri wasn't exactly convinced. Due to unforeseen events and unexpected twists, they ended up gaining the company of three other fellows. Syndri began to feel a little nervous. He doesn't carry a sword. Instead, he uses the RodStaff that he crafted himself. In the end, Syndri is nearly killed by a shady new member of their crew, but he uses a sword from a fallen comrade to protect himself.

Spread

This saying is known throughout Wynsumheord and its surrounding kingdoms; Nuurvenheath, Eiterland, Syperragg, and Wahstrehite. As far as they are concerned, it's been an established rule since the age of swords.

Cultural Reception

Most of Wynsumheord believes in this superstition, especially because several of their soldiers wield swords. The forest peoples hardly mind the rule because most of them don't carry swords, instead, they use spears, canes, bows, and arrows. They are also not inclined to venture far from their forest, so they don't usually have such problems.
