Unification through Unified faith

Purpose

As the Era of Conquest came to a close, and the process of building a peaceful empire began one significant area of friction among the many peoples now calling themselves citizens of the empire emerged the issue of faith. The emperor realized that at some point religious disagreements could one day tear his empire apart, so it was decided there would be a single pantheon, a single approved religion everyone in the empire would be expected to adhere to should they choose to practice a religious faith or subscribe to a doctrine. The pantheon of Marcelheim was was tapped to be the one true faith of the empire in perpetuity.

Historical Details

Public Reaction

Initially some places took this new rule better than others. The Capital didn't bat an eye, their pantheon was the one that got kept in place after all, within the conquered kingdoms though it was a different story, there was significant resistance particularly from the four kingdoms of Reedan who were the most devout worshipers of gods known as the "Divine Six" a pantheon no one had seen or heard any signs from in ages and yet they held strong. The Keepers of the time period chose to make a startling example of the island to ensure long term compliance.

Legacy

A lot of culture was lost in the pursuit of unity, when the disallowed faiths were removed from active practice their extensive histories of art and literature were either modified or destroyed, likewise temples and other structures were repurposed or condemned.

Term

Permanent unless rescinded by a rightful successor of the emperor.
