The Fall of Potalypsis

A tragedy swallowed by a tragedy, a short time before the wall fell and the Great Siege of Marcelheim against the kingdoms of Reedan came to an end the kingdom of Potalypsis was consumed by a natural disaster that devastated the population. What few citizens managed to survive having been elsewhere on the island or far enough from the epicenter not to be consumed by the devastation never quite got a straight answer. Some said earthquake, others a wildfire, others a lightning storm, others still a hurricane blizzard... no one could seem to agree on what erased the entirety of their people, it were as though all the fundamental elements of the world conspired against them in that moment.
Rumors of a plague, or infectious entity of some sort bubbled up in the absence of a tangible answer which raised concerns in the fledgling empire about what leaving this lost event of history unresolved could lead to if left unchecked. A decision was made, enforced by the freshly sworn to their oath "Keepers", the 5th kingdom was not just lost to history, but purged from it. "There are four kingdoms in Reedan" became a mantra recited over and over, physical records chipped away at and destroyed, the adamantine will of the Keepers was imposed upon the island until this new truth supplanted the reality of what had actually occurred that day.

Manifestation

The description of the events vary among the few records that haven't been lost to time, though they all seem to agree a cataclysmic natural disaster befell the tiny kingdom of Potalypsis shortly before the Great Siege ended and the island fell to Marcelheim's forces. The tremendous upheaval of the Siege's end coupled with the associated loss of life the life lost in Potalypsis was lumped in to the casualties of the war, making it seem like an larger scale, even more brutal conflict than it already was.
