Hiatus 61.5: The Falls and Reach

General Summary

The Wayfinders decided to take a week break after having fought a spider cult, stopped a small rift invasion, and then traveled back in time to save Valentine's soul and thwart a devil back to back to back.

Week at Astraeus Falls

⦿ A local crew is hired to clean and fix the manor as well as modify the outer part in accordance with details provided by the group of five as Anopsis gives up his share of the house, not wanting to live on an island with possible assassins and deciding instead to travel in search of other possible business dealings.   ⦿ Valentine and Reylan study under the tutelage of the forgemaster - to take guild's entrance exam before they depart the island. While Valentine aced the test on the first try, Reylan struggled for most of the day before eventually joining her teammate as a journeyman amongst the guild's ranks. (Both are awarded badges of rank and certification.)   ⦿ Reylan is messaged by Ghestin.
"I almost died again and that reminded me of you all. Just passed Kings Fall, met some interesting people. Miss you! Message me sometime!"
⦿ Valentine is messaged by Ghestin.
"Did you drink it yet?"
⦿ On the second to last day at port in Astraeus Falls, the party was approached by a goliath (named Killian Quinn) who had heard from small talk amongst the port that they were sailing for the Wastes. As he was not able to secure passage there, he spoke with the party, revealing that he knew of a possible rune that could close rifts and, as they were headed there, asking if he could come along promising to be helpful on the journey. After some deliberation, the party agreed.

Astraeus Reach

by Jossmoo
Having heard that Astraeus Reach was a bustling port city just as busy as Astraeus Falls, the Falcon made port for the day allowing for everyone to get a day of shopping in as well as complete whatever else they decided to do.

Valentine & Killian

Departing the market rather early, Killian enlisted Valentine's help in looking for a couple of items that he had been searching for. However, after a handful of hours in the early part of the day, their search was for naught.

Reylan

Leaving with Solanos after they make port, Reylan enlisted his help to investigate something within the city while everyone else was busy and learned that the injured man seen in Astraeus Falls was tied to an archaeological dig site within the Reach. A solo investigation at night, after shopping for the day, resulted in finding the site as well as learning the identity of the missing man. After attempts to contact him through Sending, replies were not only cryptic but in giant which she eventually got translated to "Temple" and "Temple. Come.". Leaving funds with the interim site leader and instructions to contact her via Sending, Reylan departed, unsure of what had happened and if it was tied at all to the site or another place.

Trivia

⦿ HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to the original members of the group! As of March 21, 2021, it has been A YEAR of the campaign! This is also an anniversary for at least three of us who started playing for the first time ever!   ⦿ This hiatus would be the first time a character has been introduced out of session. As of the start of the campaign, the party has since "lost" 6 characters: Samimar, Arel, Belziros, Alexander, Gideon, and Anopsis.   ⦿ As of the anniversary, 61 sessions were played out by the players and guided by our DM Jossmoo-- and to date this has been the longest campaign he's ever DM'd. The sessions have been divided into five volumes with the latest session ending the fifth in the session notes.   ⦿ Since the start of the campaign, two players left but since then two new players were added! Huge thanks to Nespher and RedBaron for joining and playing along with us!   ⦿ As of the start of the campaign, the group has leveled up to Level 7, with three PCs multiclassing. As of now the classes of the party are: Artificer, Cleric/Wizard, Fighter, Ranger/Fighter, Ranger/Rogue, & Warlock

Favorite Sessions

DM

"My favorite combat was definitely the fight with the Fox! I got to play a fun bard while at the same time throwing some pretty deadly enemies at you guys that were definitely challenging."

"As for my favorite session to DM-- that has to be the latest one with the devil contract and time traveling within the house. I got to see how each of you dealt with shrewd characters and exploring a situation that couldn't be dealt with through combat. There wasn't that much there, but you guys interacted with some very key characters and it was not only fun to play them but also with all of you."

Reylan

"By far, my favorite session was the Siege of Prin. With a timer on the party, a siege happening, AND the party split and in different combats with different objectives along with our ship getting boarded, it was the perfect blend of chaos, combat, story, and more that showcased our different strategies and also forced all of us to play as our characters would in such a chaotic event."

Vasya

"The skirmish at the Barisean outpost was filled with story beats and emotions that we can't replicate again. The loss of Tavard and fighting alongside a large group of allies was honestly, some of the best combat we've had."
