The Moons of Æternus

Æternus has five moons: Aquielas, Jordis, Dokkylis, Veolis, and Eludys. Each moon has a different color and is associated with a different element and ancient champion. They also differ in size, distance, and cycle.   After the Ten-Thousand Year War, the Nightweaver created the five moons in honor of the five mortal champions that had aided the Celestials in the war against the fiends and gave each moon an elemental domain to watch over, thus elevating the champions to the status of a lesser deity.

Aquielas

Named after the champion Arquis, Aquielas is the largest of the five moons and the closest to Æternus. Aquielas is a deep cobalt color and holds domain over the element of water. Due to its association with water, it is often revered by fishermen, merfolk, sailors, and those with a magical affinity to water.

Jordis

Named after the champion Joriel, Jordis is the third largest and the second closest to Æternus. Jordis is a bright emerald color and holds domain over the element of earth. Due to its association with the earth, it is often revered by many druids, farmers, gnomes, dwarves, and those with a magical affinity to earth.

Veolis

Named after the champion Vyseer, Veolis is the second smallest moon and third farthest from Æternus. Veolis is a dull pearl color and holds domain over the element of air. Due to its association with air, it is often revered by skyship sailors, the aarakocra, and those with a magical affinity to air.

Eludys

Named after the champion Eldar, Eludys is the smallest of the five moons and the second farthest from Æternus. Eludys is a deep ruby color and holds domain over the element of fire. Due to its association with fire, it is often revered by tieflings, blacksmiths, and those with a magical affinity to fire.

Dokkylis

Named after the champion Dokarr, Dokkylis is the second largest of the five moons and is the farthest from Æternus. Dokkylis is a pale obsidian color and holds domain over the void and darkness. Due to its association with the void and darkness, it is often revered by necromancers and those with an affinity to dark magic. To many of the cultures in Æternus Dokkylis is believed to be a harbinger of darkness and dread due to its association to the champion Dokarr. During the years after The Ascension, the darkness Dokarr harnessed to help in the Ten-Thousand Year War began to corrupt them and they began to use their power to corrupt the minds of mortals. The Nightweaver and other Greater Deities shackled their power to Dokkylis and sent it as far as possible from Æternus to limit Dokarr’s influence.

The Moons and the Bryndelyn

While the moons are special to all cultures and races of Æternus, they hold special significance to the Bryndelyn or moon elves. To the Bryndelyn the moons are their source of power and are worshiped and revered. When a moon, other than Dokkylis, is full it amplifies the Bryndelyn’s magic. For instance, when Aquielas is full, any magic used by the Bryndelyn that has an affinity to water is strengthened since Aquielas holds domain over the element of water. However, when Dokkylis is full, the moon elves lose their magical abilities until the following night.

Getting some Mirrodin vibes from the five colored moons (which on Mirrodin are called suns by everyone except the elves).   Are there any festivals associated with the phases of the moons? When each is at it's closest perhaps?
