Khuikana

Culture

As Khuikana was the kingdom that emerged from the ruins of multiple civilizations, its culture was largely eclectic.
As Khuikana and the surrounding region would experience monsoons, worship of the god of rain, Vasu, took prominence.
Snakes were considered sacred, and those kept in households would be treated with utmost care and respect.
The first rain of the season was immediately declared a holiday, and wouldn't end until the rain ended. On occasion this lead to overextended holidays, during which the citizens would have to curb their festivities to allow business to continue as necessary.
Making and giving someone jewelry or similar accessories was considered a romantic gesture, though it could sometimes be practiced between close friends. It was generally accepted that these exchanges were reserved for people who wanted to share their lives.
Similarly, it was customary to give the dead a gift to bury in their grave. As this lead to opportunistic grave robbery, the more militant members of local temples might take up duty guarding the burial grounds.

History

Khuikana was a small kingdom ruled under the Talpur Dynasty. It emerged from one of the many wars waged in Asuvia with the aid of the constructs that backed the army lead by Ilaldi Talpur.

Over a century into their rule, the Talpur family was nearly eradicated in a civil war, as the citizens rebelled against an unjust government. The sole survivors, Berí and Helat Talpur, failed to retain hold on the kingdom. The would-be king was slain before his coronation, and the would-be queen vanished without a trace. In the instability that followed, Khuikana was absorbed by a rival nation.
