Black Sky Cafe

Black Sky Cafe is one of the well-known cafes in Caligo City. Originally one of the private research facilities that formerly belonged to the Schwarz Inventa, it is also the home and office of Tenebrae Dux and his apprentice, Corbett.

Purpose / Function

The Black Sky Cafe is where Tenebrae works both as a cafe manager, barista, and a cook while Corbett serves as a waiter and helper. It is also served as a psychiatry office where Tenebrae examines and treats mental disorders such as PTSD, dissociative disorder, and more. It doubles as an apartment for both Tenebrae and Corbett.

Alterations

In order to change the former research facility into a cafe, there were many alterations in the building's interior. While some of the security was kept, the sliding doors were replaced by a black wooden door and added two windows to fit with the cafe's exterior. The walls that formerly surrounded the main research rooms of the first and second floors were gutted out to make room for the cafe with the latter was renovated to fit several bookshelves for the library section.
The room next to the library that was formerly the chief researcher's office was also renovated to Tenebrae's psychiatry office with several old shelves that were replaced by new bookshelves and decorations. As for the third floor, it became Tenebrae's single-floor apartment where several rooms are removed and replaced with a medium bathroom, a large living room, and a small bedroom.
While the basement remained hidden to the public, it was also renovated to accommodate a home gym and Corbett's apartment along with his small research room and small library.

History

2 years after Schwarz Inventa was founded, they built a research facility in Caligo City, a city where the Shadow Fog is more common than in other towns and cities. As a result, this branch focused on investigating its properties and effects on both Shadow Humans and Umbra alike. However, it was abandoned after the facility moved to a secluded area after reports of theft and accidents that caused to spread of the Fog around the streets near it. It was also rumored that they did illegal experiments on Umbra and Shadow Humans from the alleys.
4 years later, Tenebrae Dux used his connections after leaving Schwarz Inventa to buy and renovate the former facility into a cafe and psychiatry office. While it was struggling at first due to his lack of business and managing experience, he eventually gained decent popularity with the help of his former colleagues. He later renovated the basement a year later after his apprentice, Corbett moved in and became a waiter.

Tourism

The cafe is well-known for its best-selling drinks and desserts such as Nox Coffee, Starry Sky Latte, and the Black Velvet Shortcake. It is also known for its monochromatic interior and calming atmosphere thanks to the music chosen by Tenebrae and his experience in psychiatry.
