Reef

This is the best place to relax, find a silent weapon, murder your lover, and enjoy some great drinks. What? This man next to me? Oh, he's not my lover, he's got nothing to worry about.
— unknown tourist on Reef

Geography

Reef is an atoll far enough from all the countries that no one claimed it and it lay peaceful, only bothered by outsiders when they needed wood, water, or food (which was also, coincidentally, when their ships would scrape against the surrounding reefs and corals, and they started to take on water).

Fauna & Flora

There is an unknown variety of flowers, trees, fruits, and seaweed that makes up the lush forest of Reef, both above ground and in the water. Surrounding the forest is an immense amount of sand, with open tunnels in the bedrock underneath the island (some made by nature, others made by thieves and smugglers).   For the fauna of the island, there are both intelligent sea beings and non-intelligent ones. The intelligent/sapient ones tend to be octopus, shark, or dolphin-based. The non-intelligent ones (eaten as food), are mostly fish, clams, and oysters. Many people come here to see the bright and vibrant species that swim inside the corals. On land, many birds take to the skies daily, there are snakes, and of course, insects.

Natural Resources

Reef has natural resources starting with the letter S: sun, sand, and surf. They do also have trees, but they need to be felled carefully or else there will not be enough shade on the island for any of the beings or people that live there. For the most part,

History

Most of Reef's history is oral tradition. For anyone curious, they like to say that it was their place, outsiders came, it remained their place, they allowed outsiders to sell things, and it still remains their place. (After this, if the topic continues to stay on this, there might be a fistfight.)

Tourism

The people that visit this location are usually one of three types: 1st - are land beings and ocean beings interested in seeing the beauty of the area 2nd - sailors and pirates that are looking for land to stock up and/or sell items 3rd - black market for body parts, and other "items." (or buy anything you'd like, including "servants" the shipwrecked people who made it to the island and couldn't afford a way off)   The black market doesn't move around, it stays openly in one place, and will stay there as long as the contract holds.
